Chirk: Recycled Dog Lead
£24.00
Chirk (Welsh: Y Waun) is a town and community in Wrexham County Borough, Wales, about 10 miles south of Wrexham, situated between Wrexham and Oswestry. The name "Chirk" comes from the River Ceiriog, which may mean "the favoured one," while "Y Waun" translates to "The Moor." Chirk is home to Chirk Castle, a medieval fortress managed by the National Trust, historically linked to the Trevor family of Brynkinallt and the Myddelton family. The Hughes of Gwerclas, descended from the ancient kings of Powys Fadog, also lived in the area for many years. Other attractions in Chirk include a section of Offa's Dyke and the Chirk Aqueduct, part of a larger World Heritage Site that features the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct on the Llangollen Canal. This aqueduct, completed in 1801 by Thomas Telford, was once the terminus for the Glyn Valley Tramway near the mainline railway station.
