During the 18th century, Merthyr Tydfil, Howard's hometown, stood as the largest town in Wales, boasting the world's biggest ironworks. Among the prominent families were the Ironmasters, who constructed Georgetown, an area dedicated to their workforce.

However, the 1960s marked the onset of extensive redevelopment efforts, and by 1970, Georgetown faced demolition and reconstruction. In response, in 1971, Howard Denner embarked on a photographic project to document the area, persevering through the demolition until 1974, despite relocating to London.

In London, Howard contributed to exhibitions at the Half Moon Gallery in Whitechapel. Upon Howard's Georgetown photographs, the Director, Ron McCormick, extended an invitation for an exhibition in January 1974, which received positive reviews, including one from Euan Duff in The Guardian. Notably, Roger Mayne acquired several prints.

Fast forward 50 years, Howard's photographs were exhibited at The Redhouse Arts Centre throughout September and October 2023.
