Black Friday but different?
Posted by Emily Harris onIn a world driven by discounts and frantic shopping, our small business has made a conscious decision to opt-out of the Black Friday frenzy and try things a little different this year.
This year we'll be chucking Black Friday in the bin and instead our focus will be on using our platform to bring a little happiness to the world, it's gonna be a "Good Friday!". At the heart of our decision is the realisation that Black Friday no longer aligns with our values, and whilst we have taken part in previous years we now find it no longer works for us personally. Whilst the allure of slashed prices and booming sales may be tempting for many, we believe a different approach is needed; one that values craftsmanship, sustainability, a commitment to our customers, small businesses around the globe and a chance for us all to give back some good.
What is Good Friday?
This Good Friday, for every order placed until midnight (GMT) on Friday 24th November we'll be popping a collar in each box along with your purchases. The additional collar is intended for you to donate to a dog shelter of your choosing or an animal charity of your choice. This means that this Good Friday an extra bit of joy will be spread, by YOU!! Yes, YOU!! We may be the middle people here but ultimately the generosity lies with you for making a purchase and taking the time out of your busy day to make sure a brand new collar finds its way to a dog who doesn't yet have a home or a family to buy one for them yet.
How it works
- You'll find the collar in your parcel with a tag attached, exactly like the one shown in the picture above.
- We would like you to choose a dog shelter or an animal charity that aligns with your values and one you would like to support and donate the collar to them.
- If you love the idea but won't be able to drop a collar off yourself then please don't worry, simply add a note in the checkout section on our website telling us and we'll donate the collar to a dog shelter on your behalf.
Along with spreading some extra joy this season there are other reasons why Black Friday no longer aligns with our values...
We don't want you to panic buy
By maintaining consistent pricing throughout the year, we aim to create a transparent and fair shopping experience for our customers. This means that when you invest in our hand-made products, you can be confident that the value remains unchanged. Additionally, we care deeply about the concept of slow fashion.
Our commitment to slow fashion
In a world where fast fashion dominates, contributing to environmental degradation and unethical labor practices, we choose to be part of the solution. Our commitment to slow fashion means that we prioritise quality over quantity, durability, over disposability. By avoiding the rapid cycles of trends and sales, we hope to foster a mindset that values long-lasting, meaningful purchases over fleeting deals. At the core of our business philosophy is a genuine concern for our customers and the impact our choices have on the world.
Everything is handmade with care
Everything we offer is hand-made to order, not mass-produced. We take pride in the quality and attention to detail that goes into each item, and we believe it's this commitment (with a lot of passion) that sets us apart.
We want to build lasting relationships based on trust and shared values
We want to avoid the disappointment that often accompanies the post-purchase realisation that an item is now available at a significantly reduced price. We understand the frustration of investing in something special, only to find it devalued shortly afterwards. We want the relationship with our customers to be based on trust and peace of mind.
Our decision to forgo Black Friday is a reflection of our commitment to charity work, transparency, and the principles of slow fashion. We invite you this year to take part in Good Friday and for one day, join us in embracing a different kind of shopping experience!
